How can I be substantial without casting a shadow? I must have a dark side too if I am to be whole; and by becoming conscious of my shadow I remember once more that I am a human being like any other.

EXISTENTIAL DEPTH-PSYCHOTHERAPY.

The foundation of my education, training, and practice is based on the works of Carl G. Jung, Polly Young-Eisendrath, Jean Shinoda Bolen, Irvin Yalom, Viktor Frankl, Søren Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Simone de Beauvoir.

Understanding our place in this ever-evolving, often confusing and frustrating world can feel overwhelming.

With access to 24-hour news and social media, we can fall down a chaotic rabbit hole and crawl back out hours later feeling as we had been hounded for hours. Often it is followed by feelings of isolation, desperation, and helplessness.

Your mind and senses become overloaded, but so, too, are your heart, spirit, and soul.

Finding out where you belong, how you can make a difference, and how to feel more connected to community and loved ones is at the core of my existential depth-psychotherapy.

Each layer of your unconscious and conscious states holds its own realities. Our aim is to recognize the divine of humanity—opening the door to self-awareness and inner peace. Working through the layers of the unconscious and connecting with your psyche can engender feelings of vulnerability.

I work to gain your trust in a safe, confidential setting. As your wounded healer, I walk alongside you in your darkest and brightest of hours. My own struggles, analysis, and growth allow me to be fully present with you and all your experiences be they dreams, inhibitions, disappointments, losses, fears, desires, choices, or purpose in life.

WHAT DOES A psychotherapy SESSION LOOK LIKE?

The first session is 55 minutes and gives you an opportunity to tell your story — what brings you to therapy and what interests you in depth psychotherapy and existentialism. We also discuss your family of origin, a few early childhood memories, and your relationship to family members today.

Regular sessions are 55 minutes and focus on the issues you bring and continue our discussions from prior sessions.

During these sessions, you are the driver of your experiences. I listen closely with empathy and non-judgment. I pose questions, share observations, and actively engage you in a deeper exploration of your presenting topics to assist in finding a way to express your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a safe and respectful manner.

WHAT TOPICS DO WE DISCUSS?

We don’t work on rights and wrongs. We work on understanding the human experience—your experience—across the lifespan, seeking opportunities for forgiveness, self-awareness, and growth.

All topics are open for discussion: Relational attachments, traumatic experiences, death and dying, existential angst (freedom, meaninglessness, responsibility, and death anxiety), vocation and calling, spirituality, dreams, fantasies. I encourage you to explore your own fears, inhibitions, frustrations, and joys in life; your hopes for the future, and reconciliation with the past.

HOW MANY SESSIONS?

I recommend a commitment of at least 10 sessions, upon which we review progress and determine next steps together. You can terminate our work together at any time.
